MASTERCLASS | FORWARD ROLL | by Orjan Pettersen

MASTERCLASS gives you brief but key information on how to optimise a simple Krav Maga strike or technique.

This MASTERCLASS covers the FORWARD ROLL. The forward roll is performed if you lose balance and falling forward, e.g. if slipping or pushed, and the momentum takes your feet off the ground.

The Masterclasses teaches you how to safely roll and recover yourself swiftly into a fighting position (if necessary) facing a threat behind you. Stay relaxed and execute the roll without too much muscle tension. This roll can also be done over an obstacle using the same principles.

In our NEW and EASY format, these are broken down in 5 simple steps for you to train.

  1. Place the arms downwards towards the ground with the arm of the shoulder most forward perpendicular to your torso and the other hand facing straight forward, so they form a 90 degree angle.

  2. As your head and torso moves towards the ground, tuck your chin and head towards the back shoulder. Keep your head there during the roll.

  3. Connect with the ground with your hands first and then roll onwards along the forward shoulder, then along your back down to your same-side glute.

  4. Land with the opposite leg first and the other leg more forward as the momentum rolls you back up again.

  5. Twist your body 180 degree back again and face any opponent in a ready to fight position.
