MASTERCLASS | CLOTHING GRAB FROM THE FRONT | by Orjan Pettersen

MASTERCLASS gives you brief but key information on how to optimise a simple Krav Maga strike or technique.

This MASTERCLASS covers the defence against CLOTHING GRAB FROM THE FRONT where the assailant is using one or two hands to grab the clothing (to control, push, pull or turn you to deliver a head butt or a hand strike to the head).

The Masterclasses teaches you how to release yourself from this grab as well as how to fight back using further strikes.

In our NEW and EASY format, these are broken down in 5 simple steps for you to train.

  1. Immediately put your hands up in front of your face to protect it against a head butt or a hand strike (if one hand clothing grab).

  2. Without hesitation, use one hand with fingers and thumb together to pluck the (or one of the) grabbing hands near the wrist and press it against your chest for better control.

  3. Simultaneously, move the other hand explosively forward into an open palm hand strike aimed at the jaw or nose of the aggressor. Extend fully before recoiling.

  4. Only half recoil the striking hand and when in front of you, bend the arm into a 90 degree fixed and firm structure at the elbow and as you step forward with the opposite foot, land the outside part of the forearm on the aggressor’s exposed throat.

  5. Continue to move forward and around the aggressor as you make the same striking arm structure more vertical and strike the forearm using a movement from the shoulder only to swing big motion strikes towards the back or side of the neck. If a one-hand grab, move away from the non-grabbing hand which may start to strike you. Escape as soon as possible.
