If something was to happen right now, what would you do?

Whether you’re at home, your place of work, your favourite restaurant or bar, on public transport or just out walking - ask yourself; do I have plan if something goes wrong?

Do I need to run? Where to? If the exit is blocked, what’s plan B?

Do I deescalate? With what words, tone, pitch and volume? If it’s not working, when do I change my approach?

Do I fight? With what means - bare hands or are there weapons around me? Am I mentally prepared to go 0-100mph if needed?

What about those I’m with? Do I need to protect them? Can they defend themselves?

Have a plan. You will need to do something. Having it ready inside your mind puts you two steps ahead.

It may make all the difference. Start mentally planning - it’s a form of self defence training - and get better and better at quick decisions when violence comes to call.
